Keith R. Osher

Bill,

For me remembering Dick Israel is not a single comment, story, quotation,
teaching or lesson.  Rather, I will miss Dick Israel for three key
elements.  First, it was his personality that impressed me as it did so
many others.  Dick Israel was one of those people I always looked forward
to seeing.  I never thought about why this was the case, but if forced to
give a reason, I would say it was because Dick had a warm and positive
attitude that was infectious.

Second, I was always impressed in how Dick treated people.  He had the rare
capability of always making each greeting a unique, personal experience.
Dick’s greeting always said he was truly interested in you personally.  On
those occasions when I would speak in shul, Dick offered positive,
constructive criticism in the best possible manner, making suggestions for
additional sources of information or putting alternative points view that
should be considered.  And he treated everyone in this fashion.

Third, how could anyone not have been impressed with Dick’s wide range of
interests and his ability to think “out of the box”.

I will deeply miss him.

Keith
