Irle Goldman

Some other stories about Dick.

1) After I had given my Yizkor Drash at the minyan, I went to Dick to get
advice about turning it into something more publishable. He told me directly
but kindly, "Irle, I know of many rabbis who give wondeful sermons but
reprint them as deadly books. Some people are good speakers and some are good
writers. Be happy with what you've got."
Dick, you saved me a lot of time and effort and got me to appreciate
what I have. Thank you.

2) Also, let us not forget Dick's Golden Rule of Daavening and
Shmoozing. Daavening should take place closer to the front of the shul; Shmoozing
should take place closer to the back of the shul. Both are important for the
effective functioning of a Minyan.
